Devo confessare che prima di quest’ultima sessione di awards non la conoscevo. Nel vederla la riconoscevo per il ruolo di Bellatrix in Harry Potter (sì, lo ammetto, sono un’appassionata della saga) ma non avevo idea di come si chiamasse o che il suo stile fosse così particolare.
I must confess that before this session of awards I didn’t know her. I recognize her from her role as Bellatrix in Harry Potter (yes, I admit, I am passionate about the saga) but I had no idea what was her name or that her style was so particoular.

Fra i diversi film in cui è apparsa, i più famosi sono: Miami Vice, Amleto (con Mel Gibson), Fight Club, Il pianeta delle scimmie, la fabbrica di cioccolato, Sweeney Todd, La sposa cadavere, Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, ecc. Quest’anno, inoltre, ha vinto alcuni awards come migliore attrice non protagonista per “the king’s speech”, tra cui un Golden Globes e un Bafta Award.

This year she has also won several awards as the best supporting actress for the ”The King’s speech”, including a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award.
In realtà lei vuole solo giocare con i vestiti, divertirsi con la moda e nel frattempo esprimere anche la sua personalità molto particolare. La sua filosofia in effetti rispecchia molto il modo di vedere il mondo della moda degli inglesi: un’occasione per divertirsi e giocare con la propia immagine! La sua stilista preferita in assoluto non a caso è l’anti-conformista Vivienne Westwood. Ha indossato un suo abito ai Globes e ai Bafta, mentre per gli Oscar si è fatta disegnare un vestito da un costumista.
She just wants to play with clothes, have fun with fashion and in the meantime also express her very particoular personality. Her philosophy reflects in fact the very way English people see the fashion world: a chance to have fun and play with our own image! Her favourite designer is infact the anti-conformist Vivienne Westwood. She wore her dress at the Globes and the Bafta’s, while for the Oscars a costume designer draw her gown.
Io penso che, anche se volte forse esagera o indossa cose improponibili per qualsiasi canone estetico, uccidendo la sua silhouette, il suo modo di approcciarsi all’abbigliamento sia diverso e unico. Non fa questo solo per guadagnare fama costruendosi un personaggio (come Lady Gaga) o cercare di stare nelle regole di colori e forme, si veste semplicemente per quello che è. Per quotare Franca Sozzani “l’apparire dovrebbe essere lo specchio del nostro essere. Apparire è perfetto se è l’esaltazione della propria personalità, se corrisponde a chi siamo”. E se siamo delle persone spiritose, che non hanno voglia di prendersi troppo sul serio, allora perchè non mostrarlo a tutti!? Certo io però lo curerei molto di più come look, perchè il concetto è bello, ma la realizzazione spesso la fa apparire ridicola e molto più grassa di quello che è. Quindi fossi in lei assumerei uno stylist che le faccia capire come mantenere il suo stile, ma al contempo renderla anche una bella donna. Che ne pensate voi del suo stile?
I think that, even if perhaps she sometimes exaggerates or she wears horrible things going against all the aesthetic standards and killing her silhouette, her way of approaching fashion is different and unique. She doesn’t do this just to gain fame by building a character (like Lady Gaga) or to try to stay in the rules of colors and shapes, she just dresses for who she is. To quote Franca Sozzani “appearance should be the mirror of our being. To appear is perfect if it is the exaltation of our personality, if it corresponds to who we are. ” And if we are fun people and we don’t want to take ourselves too seriously, so why not show it to everyone!? Surely I , however, would nail her look a lot more, because the concept is nice, but the execution of it often makes her look ridiculous and much fatter than how she is. So I would hire a stylist to teach her how to keep her style, yet also make her a beautiful woman. What do you think about her style?
